
An Oyster card is a smart card that you add money to allowing travel around London at a great discount, so you can pay as you go.
You can pay as you go to travel on transport modes such as bus, Tube, tram, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail, Emirates Air Line and theRiver Bus.
You can also travel on most National Rail services in London within the 9 zones and some outside London.

How to use
Touch your Oyster card in at the very start of your journey and touch out at the very end of your journey on the yellow card readers to pay the right fare. You only touch in on buses and trams.

If you only have pay as you go credit on your Oyster card, you can lend it to someone else to use if you are not using it. Two people can’t nor allowed to use the same contactless or Oyster card for a journey.
If you have a Travelcard, Bus & Tram Pass or discount added to your Oyster card, you can’t lend it to someone else as it is liked to you personally.

Create an account
Create a contactless and Oyster account whhich will allow you to:
- Double heck your pay as you go credit and top up
- Double heck your payment and journey history
- Register your card to allow you to apply for refunds or replacements
- Report your card straight away if it’s lost or stolen so no one else can use it
- Pay any unpaid fares from mistakenly not tapping in or out
Download the app
This free TfL Oyster and contactless app lets you manage your Oyster card on the go and there is also WiFi on the underground and buses now.
Register your Oyster card
You will need to register your Oyster card if you would like to to apply for refunds or replacements, or if you’ve added credit or a discount to it.
If you do not register your card and you misplace it, your pay as you go credit, Travelcard or Bus & Tram Pass will not be refunded.
